CAIRO – Member of the European Parliament (EP) and foreign affairs geopolitician Aymeric Chauprade visited Paris-based Centre for Middle East Studies (CMES) on Tuesday, to discuss ways of cooperation with the centre.
Chauprade was doubly welcomed by head of the centre Abdel-Rehim Ali. Both figures have discussed ways of cooperation with the CMES, particularly in geopolitical-related issues.
The European parliamentarian praised Egypt’s counter-terrorism efforts and President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s role in maintaining peace and stability in Egypt as a guarantee for the stability throughout the region.
At the end of his visit, Chauprade presented Ali with his book Chronique du choc des civilisations (chronicle of the clash of civilisations), which talks about the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) and banned group of Muslim Brotherhood.
It is scheduled that Ali will hold another meeting with Chauprade next week to discuss the centre activities and other ways of enhancing cooperation with the EP. Ali will also hold several meetings with other members of the European Parliament in the next period.
