The International Labor Organization (ILO) has initially agreed to complete the second stage of the Better Work Program in Egypt, said Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabeel on Sunday.
The step will help in lifting Egypt from a list of countries banned to manufacture and export ready-made clothes and furniture to world companies including Disneyland, Kabeel said in press statements.
The ILO decision is a result of intensive talks he had with ILO chief Guy Ryder at the organization’s headquarters in Geneva, he added, noting that he asserted during the meeting Egypt’s commitment to the relevant international conventions.
He hailed as close Cairo’s ILO relations which began 82 years ago when Egypt became a member state.
The resumption of the Better Work Program is also a certificate from the UN body that conditions in Egypt are stable, he added.(MENA)
