Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday handed over a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to his South Sudanese counterpart Salva Kiir, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
In statements on Monday, Abu Zeid said Shoukry handed over the message during his meeting with Kiir after his arrival to Juba earlier in the day.
During the meeting, Shoukry conveyed the greetings of President Sisi to his South Sudanese counterpart on the efforts exerted to achieve stability and development in South Sudan.
Shoukry also asserted Sisi’s keenness on supporting South Sudan in all fields and developing bilateral relations and cooperation vis-a-vis issues of common interest, added the spokesman.
The Egyptian top diplomat asserted Egypt’s backing for Juba efforts to maintain peace and stability through establishing a national dialogue committee as its leaders have recently received a training in Cairo, said the spokesman.
Cairo has also hosted talks for uniting the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) during Arusha meeting which was held in cooperation between Egypt and Uganda, according to the spokesman.
