Since the overthrow of the pro-Brotherhood regime in Sudan, Qatar has receded and appears in many ways, presenting itself to the Sudanese differently from reality, in search of a Trojan horse that could be hidden behind to destroy the country for the benefit of the group.
At the beginning of the protests that Sudan witnessed in December 2018, Qatar was supportive of the regime of ousted President Omar al-Bashir, but after his isolation it declared its support for the Sudanese people’s revolution, and called on all actors to “uphold the supreme national interest” and achieve the people’s aspirations and just demands for freedom and justice.
Earlier, the American Foreign Policy magazine said that there are suspicious roles for Qatar and Turkey in stirring up crises in Sudan during the last period, pointing out that Qatar seeks to find a foothold in the country by supporting sedition and unrest to continue protests and instability.
Green crawl rallies
After Qatar realized that the Sudanese authorities would not be deceived by this coloration, Doha worked to spread chaos in the country, as it followed the method of provoking protests under the name of “green creep”, to strike stability and stop the wheel of peaceful transition, according to Sudanese circles.
According to the Sudanese media, the Brotherhood, with a country plan, invented a “green advance” to disrupt the transitional government, relieve pressure on the group’s remnants and not hold them accountable for the crimes they committed during the past thirty years.
It is noteworthy that the activity of green crawl began for the first time in Khartoum on December 14, 2019, in a number of Sudanese governorates, leaving violence and security tensions that almost slipped with these areas in the quagmire of chaos.
The activity came in conjunction with the pronouncement of the verdict in the case of the dismissed President Omar al-Bashir on charges of corruption, as protesters gathered near the presidential palace chanting their slogans, but the Transitional Military Council led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan succeeded in aborting the Brotherhood plot.
But the “Brotherhood” and their successors Qatar transferred their subversive activities to the regional states after the roads of the capital, Khartoum, were narrowed to them, where they provoked violence in Madani, the capital of the island state of central Sudan, after organizing the “Green March” march on January 12, and the local residents confronted them, leaving a number of the wounded with their white weapons.
The remnants of the Islamic political movement also transferred their sabotage activities to the capital of the White Nile State, “Rabak”, but their march failed due to the residents’ confrontation with them.
Last week, the Brotherhood organized a “Green March” march in Al-Fula, the capital of West Kordofan State. The Qatari channel, Al-Jazeera, which supports the Brotherhood, sent a special team to cover.
The Brotherhood also attempted to use the meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Entebbe, Uganda, to make it a cover to restore the activity of the Green March to the capital, Khartoum.
Remnants of the “Brotherhood” issued poisoned calls for their exit in the marches on Saturday, February 8, 2020, behind the guise of condemning the rapprochement with Israel.
On Friday, February 7, 2020, three Sudanese states witnessed demonstrations denouncing bread shortages and high living prices, demanding the dismissal of the military rulers.
Demonstrations erupted in the states, the capital of the Nile River state, “Atbara” in northern Sudan, which is considered the beginning of the start of the December 2018 revolution that overthrew the Brotherhood’s rule, along with the city of “Rabak”, the capital of White Nile State, in addition to Sennar, which is located in the south of the country.
