With every decision taken by the Egyptian political leadership in the way of confronting the newly created coronavirus globally, the Brotherhood’s media and electronic battalions go out to spread lies and misinformation in order to break the resolve of the Egyptians and to question the actions of the Egyptian government by inciting them, especially what these procedures guarantee from sending Egyptian medical aid to many countries of the world, in a move that highlights global solidarity in facing this pandemic.
After directing Egyptian medical aid shipments to China, Italy, then the Gaza Strip, then Britain, and finally the United States of America, the Brotherhood went out to claim that Cairo could not face the coronavirus crisis, and that there was an acute shortage of medical materials and antiseptics inside the country.
The Brotherhood’s media, represented by “Al-Sharq” and “Mekameleen” channels, and the Brotherhood’s electronic brigades via social media, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, broadcast messages criticizing the Egyptian decision to send medical aid to the United States of America, claiming that it was rather directed to the general public.
What sparked the hatred of the terrorist group more was the comment of Jonathan Cohen, the American ambassador in Cairo, on Egyptian aid to his country, as he thanked, in a video speech broadcast to him, Tuesday, April 22, 2020, the Egyptian people and government after donating the medical supplies.
He said, “The American people, the government, and the American embassy in Cairo thank the Egyptian government and people for your generous contribution in the medical supplies that will help us in facing the pandemic crisis.”
The practical response
With every incitement from the Brotherhood, the Egyptian government response comes practically, as Nevin Jameh, Minister of Trade and Industry, decided to stop exporting 18 products that include masks and antiseptics, which contributed significantly to providing more quantities required for the Egyptian markets during this period.
The Medical Supplies Division of the Federation of Egyptian Industries revealed that the market production of respiratory products reached about two million pieces per day, as the local market witnessed the entry of more than 20 new production lines to manufacture medical respirators, with investments amounting to 8 million pounds, at the beginning of the spread of coronavirus during March.
Swipe for criticism
Khaled Okasha, director of the Egyptian Center for Thought and Strategic Studies, says that the Brotherhood’s strategy has not changed towards the decisions taken by the political leadership in Egypt, as they follow the policy of criticism for criticism, noting that the aim of the malicious group is to spread hatred in the hearts of the Egyptian people towards its government.
Okasha added, in a statement to the Reference, that the Brotherhood does not want the good of the Egyptian people and always incites them to their lives by creating confusion, falsifying facts and promoting lies, because the remnants of the terrorist group still have hope to return to power.
Colorful speech
Dr. Tariq Fahmy, a professor of political science at Cairo University, says that the political discourse of the terrorist Brotherhood is based on the idea of discrimination and racism, and therefore it is a colorful and misleading political discourse that does not follow the facts that can be judged by an objective vision.
He added to the Reference that this malicious speech attacks for the sake of attack, adopting an incorrect opinion, a perversion of facts, and an attempt to place it in a different framework.
