Members of the Moroccan Justice and Development Party – the Brotherhood’s arm in the country – are reluctant to exploit crises, especially with the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that is sweeping the country.
Justice and development consultants in various Moroccan cities have used sanitization cars designated for purification to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in neighborhoods and alleys, as they use it to serve their electoral agenda in an attempt to win the votes of citizens, under the pressure of this ordeal experienced by Moroccans.
What is noteworthy is that these advisors took advantage of the state’s equipment to limit the spread of coronavirus in order to start an early electoral campaign.
They intentionally sanitized certain neighborhoods that constitute their electoral strongholds. On the other hand, they marginalized some of the other neighborhoods whose residents voted for other parties competing with the party known as Al-Bujaidi.
According to Al-Maghrib Al-Youm newspaper, the residents of a number of neighborhoods in the cities that Al-Bujaidi operates, including (Rabat, Salé, Quneitra, Meknes, Fes, Tangier, Marrakesh, Agadir), called on the authorities to intervene in order to redress them because of the injustice they faced from the collective councils that the al-Bujaidi leaders ran.
This comes because the interests of sanitization are limited to allocating this process to some neighborhoods but not to monopolizing trucks and equipment on a daily basis in a clear exclusion of the neighborhoods where their political opponents are located.
Residents of the neighborhoods of those cities that did not suffer from sanitization also considered, in separate statements that what Al-Bujaidi’s members exploit from the state’s mechanisms reflects the selectivity of this elected body.
The residents of the neighborhoods said that the members of the Justice and Development do not leave a crisis without exploiting it to serve their brotherhood interests, expressing their disbelief that this matter has reached this point, even in sterilization and cleansing in order to deal with the coronavirus as it is supposed that all recruit for the sake of confrontation.
It is noteworthy that citizens demand the sterilization of their cities and neighborhoods two or three times a week, stressing that this process should include all the alleys, and the gates of houses, and not only the neighborhoods that are strongholds of some politicians.
The Justice and Development members also led a campaign to distribute food “tea, sugar and oil” to supporters of the party in a number of cities and regions in the Kingdom of Morocco.
The police forces seized 3 members of the Unification and Reform Movement, the religious arm of the Justice and Development Party, and they are distributing food supplies to supporters of the party in northern Morocco.
