At least 10 people were killed during street protests in Iran on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 15 since Thursday, in a wave of protests on a scale not seen in almost a decade.
The Iranian state television claimed that security forces repulsed armed protesters who tried to break into police and army headquarters. It did not say where those attacks occurred.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Iranians had the right to criticize authorities but also warned of a crackdown.
“The government will show no tolerance for those who damage public properties, violate public order and create unrest in the society,” Rouhani added.
Hundreds of people have been arrested during the protests.
Iran moved on Sunday to restrict mobile access to Telegram and Instagram, and officials said signals would be blocked in areas where protests were taking place. (MENA)
