The Qatari regime claims wrongly claims it seeks to promote democracy and good governance in the Arab countries, calling on all countries to protect human rights and minorities through its media platforms like Al-Jazeera to libel other states.
However, Qatar is using such claims as a mask, hiding repressive practices against citizens and residents alike.
French engineer Jean-Pierre Marongiu said in a press conference on September 17 in Geneva that the Qatari authorities had illegally seized the assets of his company in 2013.
Moreover, Marongiu said he was jailed for six years without a fair trial in Qatar, accusing Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al-Thani of being the head of a mafia that seizes the property of people illegally.
According to him, 30-40 prisoners would be placed in one cell, which should only have ten individuals.
Doha has an indecent record regarding human rights. In September 2018, Amnesty International said in a press release that foreign labor in Qatar for building infrastructure required for the World Cup preparations in 2022 are being treated badly.
The organization said 78 workers from Nepal, India and the Philippines have not got paid for their work in Qatar.
Evidently, Qatar has drawn on theft and injustice to emerge on the global and regional scenes as happened with the French businessman and the workers of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
