Cairo – Interviewed for a TV program, Ahmed Badawi, a member of the Egyptian Parliament, said that militant terrorist groups are trying hard to lure high-school students into their lines through social media networks to recruit them, confirming that there are Facebook pages, inciting violence and tarnishing Egypt’s image, which are being run from Qatar and Turkey.
Badawi added that the Parliament is working on a new draft Bill that, if passed, maximum penalties will be carried for pages run by militant groups and their sympathizers.
He also warned the public against posting personal information online or interacting with complete strangers on the web.
He continued:” There will be also ‘firm and decisive measures’ against smear and defamation campaigns on social media networks.”
