Cairo – In his book “The Egyptian Revolution of 1952“, Egyptian author Ahmed Hamroush recalls that the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group used to tout itself as the “alternative” force after the revolution of 1952 and acted abroad according to this notion.
As for the group’s relations with the West, Hamroush points out that some statements and actions of MB group on this issue were not welcomed by the Revolutionary Command Council, the body established to supervise Egypt and Sudan after the Revolution of 1952.
On July 5, 1953, according to Hamroush, the second MB supreme guide Hassan Al-Hudaibi told the Associated Press that the West would make great gains if “western countries are willing to understand the Brotherhood’s tenets and principles with impartiality”.
“I am sure that the West will be convinced of the advantages of MB group and stop considering it as a frightful phantom. I also am sure that the West will find out that MB group is a major force for bringing about peace among peoples and contributing to the progress and prosperity of humanity,” Al-Hudaibi asserted in his statement then.
