Lawyer ‘Elie Hatem’ filed a lawsuit before the French judiciary, asking for a compensation of one million and a half Euros to be paid by ‘Le Meurice Hotel’. This is because representatives and photographers of Arab and French satellite channels were prevented from covering the conference of “Qatar: side scenes of Middle East crises”.
The conference was organized at the hotel by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CEMO) in Paris, and was attended by distinguished French and Arab politicians, thinkers and journalists. Key speakers included ‘Dr. Abdelrahim Ali’, President of CEMO, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of “Al-Bawaba Newspaper and Portal”, ‘François Asselineau’, former runner for French presidential elections, ‘Elie Hatem’, Professor of law and Regional Director of “United Nationals Democratic Alliance” in France, the French writer ‘Pierre Bertoli’, ‘Dr. Ali Ratspin’, President of Geopolitical Research Institute, University of Paris, ‘Georges Malbrunot’, the most famous journalist of the French daily “Le Figaro”, who was kidnapped by “ISIS” in Iraq, the Libyan writer ‘Yousef Shakir’, and the French writer ‘Eric Chambal’.
Mention-worthy, prevention of journalists and satellite channels from covering the conference came after pressures exerted by the Embassy of Qatar in Paris on the hotel. Some participants in the conference threatened to sue the hotel and the inciter for this step, which they described as a step that “harms the opinion and expression freedom that stands for a sacred value in France”.
Al Jazeera and Qatari newspapers were maddened by the conference, to the extent of attacking it. The conference unveiled the Qatari practices that support evil powers and terrorism.
