Who is Sheikh Sultan bin Suhaim Al-Thani?

Sheikh Sultan bin Suhaim Al-Thani is being considered the third high-profile member of Al-Thani tribe to publicly call for an end to the ongoing Qatar crisis and reach a solution with the Anti-Terror Quartet.

Born in the Qatari capital in 1984, Sheikh Sultan bin Suhaim Bin Hamad Al Thani is the eighth child of Sheikh Suhaim bin Hamad.

He is currently married with three boys (Mohammed, Suhaim, Abdelaziz) and three girls (Mona, Aisha and Latifah).

Bin Suhaim Al-Thani holds a Political Science Master’s degree from the University of Cairo.

Who is his father, Sheikh Suhaim bin Hamad?

Suhaim bin Hamad was the brother of the former Qatari Emir Sheikh Khalifah bin Hamad Al-Thani.

He was Qatar’s first foreign minister after it gained independence in 1972 and played a large part in the development and modernization of Qatar.

He also had a significant role in the development of the Arab Unity initiative. He was known to have a clear position in the Arab-Israeli conflict and the Palestinian issue and had very strong relations with Gulf, Arab and Islamic countries. As foreign minister, Suhaim bin Hamad played a large role in playing down the military and media tensions between Iraq and Syria.
