An officer was killed and two soldiers were wounded in an attack against al-Arish airport in northern Sinai, announced the Egyptian army.
The attack took place while the defense and interior ministers were inspecting the security situation in the city,the official middle east news agency said yesterday
The two ministers were not injured, said a security source.
A military spokesman said in a statement that the attack damaged a helicopter at the facility.
Northern Sinai had turned into a terrorist hub in recent years where several extremist groups have set up camp. Among those is the Ansar Beit al-Maqdis group that swore allegiance to ISIS in 2014 and now operates under the name Sinai State.
