MOSCOW, (MENA) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow unequivocally supports the determination of Egypt in fighting terrorism.
“Our military-technical cooperation in the form of supplies of necessary equipment and weapons for the anti-terrorist operation has been developing very actively,” he said in an interview with Russia Today channel.
“We have close ties with Egypt and we conduct joint military exercises, and this helps us exchange experiences, taking into account the experience in the fight against terrorism that we have gained in Syria,” Lavrov said.
Russia and Egypt have ties on many levels, from nuclear cooperation to military trade. Russia supports Egypt in its fight against extremist forces.
But he denied that Russia has any intention of flying combat missions over Egypt or from bases in Egypt despite the new legal framework signed between the two countries.
