The performance in the country’s capital has become a landmark event as it was the first pop concert of a Western music band since the Islamic Revolution.
This week, German music band Schiller became the first non-classical band to give a concert in Iran over the last four decades.
A series of performances took place in the Iranian capital and left the country’s youth overexcited.
“I couldn’t believe it when I heard Schiller was going to perform in Iran,” Arash, a 22-year-old student, said. “At first I thought my friend was joking…. This is so amazing” he added.
During the show, the country’s officials ensured a high level of security. Security guards regularly patrolled the area in order to prevent any possible incidents.
The band was initially expected to play two concerts in Tehran this week, but after the $40 tickets sold out within hours, three additional performances were added to the trip.
Schiller is an electronic music band, very popular in Germany. Its frontman, Christopher von Deylen, has sold over 7 million albums worldwide.
