Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit reiterated on Monday the pan-Arab body’s commitment to standing by the Comoros to achieve security and stability across the country.
Abul Gheit, in a meeting with Comoran President Azali Assoumani, expressed the Arab League’s support of the Comoran national dialogue session to take place on February 5, spokesman for the Arab League Mahmoud Afifi said.
The meeting came on the sidelines of the 30th African Union summit in Addis Ababa.
Abul Gheit has already delegated an envoy who will attend the session on his behalf in the Comoran capital, Moroni, the spokesman said.
Assoumani expressed appreciation for the important role played by the Arab League to back Comoros at the political and development levels.
He invited Abul Gheit to visit Moroni soon and the latter welcomed the invitation and promised to pay the visit as quickly as possible. (MENA)
