Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar signed a memorandum of understanding with his British counterpart Sam Gyimah to establish branches of UK universities in Egypt.
The move came on the sidelines of Abdel Ghaffar’s participation in the Education World Forum, which opened in London on Sunday and runs for five days, a statement by the Ministry of Higher Education said Wednesday.
The agreement represents continued cooperation and understanding between the governments of Egypt and the UK, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a Wednesday statement.
The Egyptian minister said the MoU will allow Cairo to make use of the British experience in education, which in turn will help Egypt’s higher education achieve its targets and meet the needs of the local labor market.
Meanwhile, Gyimah asserted London’s keenness to apply the MoU inked with Cairo, according to which the UK universities are to provide Egypt with world educational programs.
The British minister added that this partnership will benefit both Egyptian and UK students and educational institutions. (MENA)
