Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali launched a media campaign to raise awareness against the dangers of driving school buses under the influence of drugs.
The campaign targets urging parents to call the hotline (16023) if they suspect that their children’s school bus driver is under the influence of drugs so as to uproot this phenomenon.
This came during a press conference held by the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction (FDCTA) on Monday to announce the results of the campaign to discover drug addicts among drivers of school buses during the period extending from November 2014 to December 2017.
Wali, who is also the FDCTA head, called on the families to help the fund and report to it about any drug addict they happen to know to help him/her in being treated, promising that treatment will be provided to those in need secretly and free of charge.
She lauded efforts exerted by the army and police to fight drug trafficking, noting that the fight against drug trafficking and drug addiction is no less important than the fight against terrorism.
