The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, will participate in the Munich Security Conference (MSC), which will be hosted by the German city from today until 18 February, with the participation of a large number of government officials and international and regional organizations.
The main theme of this year’s conference will be “The future of the European Union as an international actor and its relationship with the United States and Russia.” In addition to addressing the most important developments and interactions that are taking place in the arena of international relations during the current period, especially the developments in the Middle East and the armed conflicts witnessed by several Arab countries.
The Arab League spokesman Mahmoud Afifi, said that this participation comes within the framework of the Secretary-General’s great interest in participating in any international gathering.
He added that Aboul Gheit will be one of the key speakers on the developments in the Middle East, in which a number of ministers from the region and abroad will also participate, in addition to the international envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura.
The Spokesman pointed out that the Secretary-General is expected to hold a series of important bilateral meetings on the sidelines of his participation in the conference with senior officials representing governments and international and regional organizations to exchange views with them on the priority issues of the region.
