International donors pledged a total of dlrs 330.130 million in assistance to Iraqis at a Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Conference to Support the Humanitarian Situation in Iraq, to be concluded later in the day.
The event held as part of the Kuwait-hosted international conference on the reconstruction of Iraq, was attended by Kuwaiti Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Pledges by Kuwaiti NGOs came out as follows: Kuwait’s Zakat House and the Awqaf General Secretariat (dlrs 35 million), Salam Charity Society (dlrs 15 million) Islamic International Charity Organization (dlrs 10 million), Kuwaiti Aid Society (dlrs 10 million) Najat Charity (dlrs 10 million), Direct Aid Society (dlrs 10 million), Al Eslah Society (USD 10 million), Society of the Revival of Islamic Heritage (dlrs 10 million), Abdullah Al-Nouri Society (dlrs five million), Patients Helping Fund Society (dlrs five million) and Red Crescent Society (dlrs 2.5 million).
As for the other international donors their pledges were as follows: the International Committee of the Red Cross (dlrs 130 million in programs), the Human Appeal of the UK (dlrs 30 million), the Qatari Education Above All Foundation (dlrs 13.5 million), the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (dlrs 10 million), the United Iraqi Medical Society (dlrs 5.1 million), Qatar Charity (dlrs five million), a French NGO (dlrs four million), the Islamic Relief of the UK (dlrs four million), the Muslim World League (dlrs 2.7 million), in addition to dlrs four million from a French Muslim society and another dlrs four million from an Iraqi organization.
