CAIRO – Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Board and Editor-in-Chief of al-Bawaba News Abdelrahim Ali said Sunday that al-Azhar preferred not to accuse terrorists of unbelief and left the mission of fighting and killing them for the army and police.
He added at a debate on private TV al-Kahira Wal Nas that al-Azhar has a strong theological backing for its view on the terrorists.
He praised the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, describing him as one of the “brightest” Islamic scholars in the world.
Ali said Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb received his education in Paris and is an enlightened scholar.
