The grandson of Hassan al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group, Tariq Ramadan, has confessed to having sexual relationship with one of his five victims who accused him of rape and sexual assault, according to French and European newspapers.
The French newspaper La Croix has been following up the case and statements of public figures and experts on Islamic affairs on the issue that rocked the Muslim Brotherhood group in France and Europe.
Ramadan has been detained in Florei Meruji prison since early February after five women filed lawsuits in France and Switzerland against him accusing him of sexual abuse.
Ramadan’s lawyers insisted the relations were not as portrayed by one of the alleged victims. Ramadan has denied all charges against him, claiming these accusations “are part of a campaign by his enemies to defame him”.
However, when faced with evidence from one victim, he confessed to having a relationship with her.
The victim had provided the investigators with screenshots of online conversations between her and Mr. Ramadan. She also gave them a dress that is allegedly stained with traces of his sperms, swissinfo.ch reported. The experts are currently conducting DNA tests, according to swissinfo.ch.
