A number of Palestinians suffered suffocation and others passed out on Monday when Israeli forces attacked a Nakba Day rally that was heading towards the northern fence of Bethlehem town, south of the West Bank.
Hundreds of the Palestinians participated in the rally that was held to mark the 70th anniversary of Nakba Day. They raised the Palestinian flags and black banners and chanted slogans affirming that Al Quds is the eternal capital of Palestine.
When the rally arrived at the Israeli military barrier in the north, Israeli forces fired tear gas and sound bombs at the protesters.
Israeli troops set up two metal gates at the entrance of al Khedr town in the south of Bethlehem, without declaring reasons for such move, said anti-wall, anti-settlements committee coordinator in al Khader, Ahmad Salah.
This measure will prevent farmers from reaching their lands, Salah said, adding that Israeli forces have established mobile homes at the area a few days ago, in a prior step to set up settlement posts in it. (MENA)
