South Sudan’s Riek Machar agreed to initial a final peace deal on Thursday, the Sudanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
Machar, who leads the major opposition group, Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLM-IO), agreed to ink the final peace deal after intensive negotiations brokered by Sudan, the statement added.
His approval comes after Khartoum vowed to raise points that Machar requested to be discussed at the IGAD summit, the statement read.
