The Libyan Military Prosecutor on Thursday ordered the arrested of head of the Libyan presidential council Faiz al Sarraj, members of the presidential council and a number of military leaders in the western zone over charges of committing dangerous crimes against the state.
A statement released by the General Command of the Libyan Army on Thursday night said the arrest warrants included the names of the former head of the Higher State Council Abdel Rahman al Sewehli, head of the national salvation government khalifa al Ghaweel, former Mufti al Sadeq al Gheriani, General Suleiman Mahmoud, General Youssef el Manqoush and other military figures.
The Libyan Military Prosecutor said such elements were involved in harming the unity of the country, charging them of betrayal to the state, inciting sedition and cooperation with foreign elements to break out the war in Libya along with charges of forming illegitimate armed groups, funding terrorism and giving a political cover-up to the head of the national salvation government that has not been internationally recognized.
