The United States has lifted the arms embargo, imposed by a US Congress resolution, on a number of Arab countries including Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates after recent tensions with Iran, the International Security and Intelligence Analysis Group said.
Last month, US administration officials met with members of Congress several times to discuss the best way to deal with Iran, Sufan Group said in a recent report.
“There is a split within the administration itself about dealing with Iran between a team led by National Security Advisor John Bolton, who sees the need to resort to a military solution, while the other team led by Senator Chris Murphy, rejects military solutions to the Iranian crisis.”
The International Security Group stresses that President Trump’s position is still uncertain. He issued a number of statements that contained a clear contradiction. He said in a statement that Iran would face its inevitable while returning to say that it seeks to avoid war with Iran later.
The US strategy in the Trump era is unclear as far as dealing with Iran is concerned, in addition to the vagueness of US policy towards Syria. A number of Congressmen have called for Trump to adopt a clear direction for Syria, under the threat of US national security, the control of al-Qaeda-linked militants on part of the Syrian territory in Idlib, in addition to the role of Iran and Russia, which allowed President Bashar al-Assad to remain in power.
