The Libyan researcher, Mohamed Zubaidi, questioned the seriousness of the initiative put forward by the head of the ruling Al-Wifaq government in Tripoli, Faiz Al-Sarraj, a week ago, in which he offered the possibility of cooperating with the Libyan army and sitting with him at the negotiating table.
“The initiative was a message to the international community, aimed at whitening the face of reconciliation and claiming to be a peaceful government.”
He said that he wanted to embarrass the Libyan army, but when he returned to the militias they forced him to retreat.
Regarding the situation in the field in Tripoli, he said that the army has so far succeeded in advancing to the capital, pointing out that the length of the military operation launched since April 4 was caused by the fear of the army for the lives of civilians.
He stressed that he refuses to follow the policy of scorched earth, which is the invasion of Tripoli to the large number of civilians, pointing out that the army deliberately attracted militias away from residential areas and then engaged with them.
He denied that the army had been subjected to any retreats as claimed by the media windows of the militias, noting that the army did not retreat one inch from its land.
The Libyan army is waging a flood of dignity to liberate Tripoli from the grip of the armed militias that control it.
Since the start of the operation, Al-Seraj has stuck to the letter of refusal to sit down with the Libyan army, until he announced his initiative, which was considered a retreat from his position.
