Since the bombings in Manchester in 2017, which the Libyan Hashem Ramadan Abdi is accused of perpetrating them, the British investigative authorities have been working on solving the mystery of these bombings. However, Libya’s reconciliation government (Al-Wefaq) headed by Fayez Sarraj stands as a large barrier to hand over that terrorist each time, citing the battles taking place in the capital Tripoli.
In Al-Wefaq prisons
In a report published in the UAE’s “The National”, British journalist Kun Kuglin questioned the reasons why Libya did not hand over Hashim Ramadan Abdi and put him in British jails, expressing his astonishment at the Muslim Brotherhood’s Al-Wefaq government covering him.
The British journalist also pointed out that Hashim was being held in a prison controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood, and that there was a link between Salman Abedi and radical Islamists in Tripoli, supporting the government of Qatar and also the regime in Turkey.
Excuses are rejected
It is noteworthy that in May 2017 Hashim Abedi carried out a terrorist operation in the Manchester Arena, during a concert of the famous American singer, Ariana Grandi, which resulted in the killing of 22 people and injuring 59 others, including at least 12 children. Salman was arrested in London while Hashim remained in Libya before being arrested by al-Wefaq government and pledging his extradition to the British authorities.
The excuses of the reconciliation government headed by al-Sarraj to postpone the extradition of Hashim, was unacceptable to the British public opinion in light of the boiling situation in which the British citizen lives because of this terrorist operation. The most prominent arguments are the escalation of tensions after the military operations launched by the Libyan National Army led by Marshal Khalifa Hafater in April to control the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
Qatar and Turkey
Ramadan Abedi (the father of the two brothers) is a former member of the hardline Libyan Islamic Group that took part in the overthrow of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
In a statement to the Reference, Mohammed Abu Ras al-Sharif, a Libyan political analyst said, “The role of Turkey and Qatar is announced and the two countries have not been supported by the militias and terrorist groups since 2011 to date through financial support, logistics and information.”
Abu Ras confirmed that in August 2011, a number of prisons were broken into, such as Abu Salim prison, Tajoura prison, Ain Zara prison and Jadida prison. The majority were Islamists belonging to the LIFG, Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Martyrs Brigade.
The Libyan political analyst, said that in July 2013, the city of Benghazi witnessed an escape from the prisons of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Libyan Fighting Group and the Salafist mainstream entrance.
