The Yemeni Army has announced initiating a new operation to liberate Yemeni cities from the grip of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.
The army is seeking to liberate Taiz, southwestern Yemen, which has been under the control of the Houthis since 2016.
The fighting spread to the north-west of the besieged city, and the army was able to take control of Al-Qarea Hills, northwest the air defense military camp west of the city. The clashes also extended to western parts of the Han Mountain west of the city, resulting in the killing of a number of Houthi militants.
Taiz Military Commander Samir Sabry has announced that the battle aims at freeing Taiz from the Houthis, pointing out that the army is moving with steady paces.
Meanwhile, troops loyal to the Yemeni army and the legitimate government with the help of the Saudi-led military coalition launched an operation to neutralize Houthi abilities to carry out hostile assaults to preserve regional and international safety and stability.
The Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen has also announced carrying out an operation to target the Houthi existence in Ad Dali’ governorate, stressing that the operation goes in line with international and humanitarian laws and standards after taking all measures to protect civilians.
The coalition also confirmed that efforts are continuing against the Houthi militias to preserve regional and international safety and stability.
An operation that targeted northern parts of Ad Dali governorate also lead to the killing and wounding of Houthi militias and the destruction of heavy artillery, including rocket launchers.
Houthi forces control most of Yemen’s north and west, as well as Sanaa, and for the past four years have been at war with the internationally recognized government.
