Corruption in Yemen in the era of Hadi

Since the current president of Yemen, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, came to power in February 2012, after the overthrow of the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Yemen has entered a political era, not much different from the era of «Saleh».

Since the first year of rule Hadi, the financial, political and administrative corruptions have spread.

In addition, Mansour, allowed the Brotherhood to control of the most important ministerial positions in the government.

Because of Hadi’s weakness and his silence on many mistakes, the pro-Iranian-funded al-Houthi group was able to overthrow him and take control of Yemen’s most vital organs.

On January 20, 2015, al-Houthi placed him under house arrest after the capture of the capital, Sana’a, when a siege was imposed on his presidential palace, and after many negotiations the siege was lifted.

On January 22, 2015, Hadi submitted his resignation to the House of Representatives and signed a political agreement with the Houthis known as the Peace and National Partnership Agreement, which gave them the opportunity to extend control over the capital Sana’a.

In February 2015, the Yemeni president fled to Aden, then announced his withdrawal of his resignation. Then, he attempted to extend his control over the Yemeni army by sacking the head of the Special Security Forces branch, Abdul Hafiz al-Saqqaf, one of Ali Abdallah Saleh’s affiliates.

During this period, Tehran was able to impose its influence and intellectual authority in large parts of Yemen, the most prominent of these places Maran Mountains in Saada.

From his part, Yemeni political analyst, Mohammed al-Humairi said that: The current Yemeni president is just a tool driven by the Brotherhood as it wants, he is a figurehead before the international community, but actually who are control of the country, the Brotherhood and the Houthis.

Al-Humairi said in a statement to «Reference», that President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, contributed in this bad situation, he did not act strictly, and this gave them a great opportunity to expand in the country and extend Iranian influence.
