The Arab League said on Monday it delegated a mission under Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim al Zawady, Head of Arab and National Security Affairs Department, to Tunis to take part in monitoring Tunisia’s presidential election in mid-September.
A statement issued by the Pan-Arab Organization said the mission includes observers from all Arab countries except Tunisia as part of the Arab keenness on boosting democracy and good governance in Tunisia, adding the decision to dispatch the mission came upon the request of head of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) Nabil Bafoun to AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit.
The mission members are due to meet all parties concerned with election and prepare for casting votes and vote counting, said the statement.
