The branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria tried to use attacks on two oil facilities in Saudi Arabia to serve its own interests. The group issued a statement on Facebook on September 20 in which it denounced the attacks.
The group also tried to use the attacks to step up its criticism of Iran and the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
In doing this, the Brotherhood overlooked all the conspiracies it concocted against Arab Gulf states, including its collaboration with the Iran-aligned Houthi militia in threatening the interests of these states.
The Brotherhood expressed in the statement solidarity with Gulf states against what it described as Iran’s expansionist plans in the region.
Despicable group
The Muslim Brotherhood has been an outcast in Syria since the 1980s. In 1980, the Syrian government criminalized the group. It said those joining this group would be executed.
Such a decision was taken by the Syrian government following a series of attacks carried out by the Muslim Brotherhood inside Syria.
Nevertheless, the group has tried to return to the Syrian political stage by collaborating with other terrorist organizations that adopt the ideology of Brotherhood theoretician Sayyed Qotb.
The International Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood has, meanwhile, been instrumental in the formation of militias that fight in Syria. Terrorists affiliated to the Brotherhood, who escaped Syria in the 1980s, returned to the country when its civil war erupted. Most of them joined the al-Nusra Front.
