The Saudi cabinet hailed on Tuesday the joint statement issued between the Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates on Yemen.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the meeting that was held at the al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
The ministers underscored the statement that welcomed the compliance of the legitimate government of Yemen and Southern Transitional Council with Saudi Arabia’s call for dialogue.
It stressed the need to preserve unity and shun sedition. Riyadh and Abu Dhabi also underlined their continued support for the legitimate government and its efforts to safeguard Yemen and defeat the Iran-backed Houthis and terrorist groups.
The ministers praised Sudan for forming a transition government, saying it reflected the people’s keenness on the interests of their country and its security and stability.
King Salman briefed the gatherers on the message he had received on Tuesday from Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah. He also briefed them on the discussions he held over the weekend with visiting President of the Ivory Coast Alassane Ouattara.
The ministers also welcomed Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz’s appointment as the Kingdom’s new energy minister.
They hailed the 55th Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority annual report that highlighted the economic and financial developments witnessed in the Kingdom in 2018. The ministers said the progress is in line with Saudi Arabia’s balanced economic policies.
They also welcomed the 2019 Article IV Consultation report by the International Monetary Fund that hailed the progress the Kingdom is achieving in diversifying its economy, creating new job opportunities and implementing reform in line with its Vision 2030.
