In a bid to safeguard schools and educational institutions in Sudan, the ruling council disbanded in a press statement on September 19 the so-called ‘Jihadist Units’, which are affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group. These units are widespread in Sudanese universities.
Spokesman of the Sovereign Council Mohammed al-Faki Suleiman said the move is aimed at creating a good climate for the reopening of universities, which are scheduled to begin in October.
Suleiman added that there were directives to the university guards to seize the buildings of Brotherhood’s units and their records, citing that the safety of students.
The terrorist organization is seeking to exploit the youth in universities as a pressure card against the regimes in the Arab countries. A gathering of university professors and higher institutes issued a statement in July, denouncing the Brotherhood’s militias in Sudanese universities.
Researcher Mohamed Ezz Eddin, an expert on Sudanese affairs, said that the Muslim Brotherhood only seeks to operate in backdrop of chaos and turmoil/
“The Brotherhood seeks to trigger chaos via promoting unrest and fomenting conflict among national institutions, such as the army, the judiciary and the police,” Ezz Eddin told THE REFERENCE.
The researcher noted that the Brotherhood is seeking to instigate divide among the Sudanese people in a bid to control Sudan.
