Since the Islamic Revolution, which changed the face of Iran in 1979, the Mullahs’ regime has adopted several principles and rules, such as Governance of the Jurist, trying to spread the ideology of the revolution and its objectives to neighboring countries, the first of which is the suppression of people and the forcible control of all reins of power, while preventing any freedoms or peaceful transfer of power.
In order to raise the world’s concerns, the Iranian regime began to implement its nuclear program, surrounding it with a broad framework of secrecy. Even when the Iranian regime tried to negotiate with the world, it managed to obtain wide-ranging gains and funds from the administration of US President Barack Obama.
The European Parliament on Wednesday, October 23, hosted a conference attended by top personalities and parliamentarians from all over the world, accompanied by opponents of the Iranian regime, in order to shed light on the crimes of the Iranian regime, and ways to address them at the European level.
The conference came at a time during which Tehran continues to blackmail European countries in return for its commitment to the terms of the nuclear agreement, especially as Iran is being evasive to reduce its obligations towards the nuclear deal.
The conference included a display of a range of terrorist activities by the Iranian regime, whether its interference in the affairs of neighboring countries such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq and the Houthi militia in Yemen, in addition to smuggling weapons and drugs to these countries.
Conservative EU top job hopeful Jan Zahradil said Donald Trump’s approach to Iran is more successful than the bloc’s current policy of “appeasement.”
The Czech MEP, who is president of the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE), said he would pursue the U.S. president’s stricter approach to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
“I believe that we should be tougher,” Zahradil told Euronews’ Raw Questions. “If I was in charge … I would advise the Commission to be tougher on Iran than the current Commission. Now it seems that Iran doesn’t take us seriously.”
Juan Fernando of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament has said the time has come to bring about the necessary change in the regime in Tehran, ensuring a better and more prosperous future for the Iranian people.
The European Parliament member stressed that while Europe is negotiating with the Iranian regime, the same regime continues to perpetrate widespread and persistent human rights abuses in prisons, which are packed with prisoners of conscience and those who reject the mullahs.
