The former US envoy to the international coalition against ISIS Brett McGurk has accused Turkey of facilitating escaping of ISIS fighters to Syria.
In a statement McGurk said that 40 thousand terrorists, belonging to more than a hundred and ten countries, entered Syria through the Turkish border.
McGurk added the Turkish regime refuse to close its borders.
In a panel discussion, he said in detail, I ran the international coalition campaign against ISIS.
“ISIS caliphate was on the Turkish border. We worked with Turkey and visited Turkey more than any other country to urge them to close the border, but they did not” McGurk said.
He added “But when Kurdish forces took control of parts of the border, they immediately closed the border and built a wall after the Kurds took control of the border areas.”
Many countries around the world continue to warn against Turkey’s invasion of northern Syria, which will lead to the resurgence of ISIS.
The New York Times has revealed in a report that the Turkish bombardment of northern Syria is focused on prisons of the organization “IS”, which led to the flight of dozens of them so far.
