The mullahs’ regime has faced widespread protests against the decision to raise the price of petroleum by 300%, which Iranian security forces have met with a crackdown and Internet service cuts across the country.
The protests complemented a series of popular demonstrations against terrorist arms loyal to Tehran in Arab countries, such as demonstrations of Iraq against Iranian interference in internal affairs, and Beirut demonstrations against Hezbollah.
International positions
The mullahs’ regime tried to prevent news of repression abroad by cutting Internet services, fearing that it would take international positions against it, especially after its deteriorating relations with the US and the European Union.
“The mullahs’ regime has disrupted Internet services since Thursday, November 21, 2019, to prevent the reality of its repression of protesters from appearing in different countries of the world, ” he told a news conference on Tuesday evening.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington would continue to punish Iranian officials, who will be found guilty of abuses against peaceful demonstrators in Iranian cities.
A threat from the Revolutionary Guards
The US announcement of sanctions against Iranian officials comes a day after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami said his country was capable of destroying the United States.
The commander of the Revolutionary Guards said in a speech at a rally in Tehran, Monday, November 25, 2019, that his troops will destroy America if it crosses the red lines, pointing out that Washington tried the power of Tehran in the squares.
He threatened that Tehran will pursue the countries involved in provoking the riots and chaos in the Iranian provinces during the past week, saying that his forces are closer to the defeat of the enemies, and will not benefit their military strength, stressing that no force can shake the stability of Iran under the leadership of Khamenei.
Hundreds dead
Despite the war of media statements between the international parties and Iran, the mullahs’ regime is still resorting to violence to control the demonstrations, leaving hundreds of people dead.
The spokesman of the People’s Mujahideen Organization of the Iranian opposition Shahin Qabadi, in a tweet on Monday, November 25, 2019, that the death toll of protesters reached 400 people, pointing out that this number is expected to increase.
Amnesty International confirmed in a report on Monday, 25 November 2019, that at least 143 people were killed, including 40 in Khuzestan province in the south of the country, 34 in Kermanshah province in the west of the country, and 20 in Tehran.
