The Iranian regime has launched pro-government rallies on the back of growing public anger against its plan to raise fuel prices. The Iranian media organs have reported about pro-regime rallies in a number of Iranian cities.
Iranian activists said the regime forces students and public servants to tale part in these marches.
Researcher Ahmed Kebal, a political analyst at Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, said the massive anti-regime rallies reflect the desire of Iranians to change. “The protests have been going on in Iran for two years. The Iranian regime has tried hard to undermine the demonstrations that swept across Iran,” Kebal told THE REFERENCE.
“The regime wants to flex its muscles by launching pro-government rallies. The mullah regime is capitalizing on its Basij forces, which are capable of mobilizing their loyalists,” Kebal said.
“Although the Iranian regime managed to launch pro-government rallies, it has failed in silencing the opposition and public demonstration completely,” he added.
