Iran’s regime is in a great mess as mass demonstrations continue while the death toll among protesters is on the rise. The death toll has reached 20 people.
Demonstrations swept Tehran’s streets as protesters set fire to photos of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The security authorities sent text messages to the demonstrators warning of taking part in the rallies.
Iran’s High Council of Economic Coordination discussed fuel prices on Saturday and decided to go on with the price hikes. Although the government said the fuel price hikes wouldn’t be injected into the state budget as the funds will finance a social program for 18 million poor families, the protesters continued their demonstrations.
Researcher Mohamed Alaa Eddin, an expert on Iranian affairs, said that Iran’s regime “is continuing” its adamant attitude in the face of the protests. “The Iranian regime is trying to evade the crisis without tackling the situation,” Alaa Eddin told THE REFERENCE.
“The regime is about to collapse as the Iranians cannot withstand poverty and starvation while their leaders are spending the country’s wealth on military adventures,” he added.
