Germany will host a conference on Libya in early December to discuss a solution to the current dispute between the Government of the National Accord’s militias and the Libyan National Army.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Nov. 11 that his country and the United States “see eye to eye” regarding the Berlin conference on Libya.
Researcher Fatma al-Ghandour, an expert on Libyan affairs, said that Germany has relied on a number of influential international parties to reach a settlement for the Libyan crisis.
“The European Union, especially Germany, is working on combatting terrorism in Libya,” the researcher told THE REFERENCE, adding that that the United States is working with the European Union on combating terrorism in Libya.
Turkey and Qatar have been interfering in Libya’s internal affairs and backing the militias.
The Libyan National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, is continues its military operations to free Tripoli from the Turkish-backed militias and mercenaries.
