The Muslim Brotherhood tried to gain presence in Europe so it can become a new base for its activities in case of confrontation with Arab peoples.
In 1958, Saeed Ramadan, the son-in-law and personal secretary of Muslim Brotherhood founder, Hassan al-Bana, travelled to Munich, escaping from Egypt. He assumed the position of the head of the Islamic Center Munich. Ramadan then founded the Islamic Center in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1961.
The Muslim Brotherhood has been establishing Islamic Centers across Europe since then. This contributed to creating Muslim Brotherhood pressure groups in Europe. These lobby groups put pressure on western governments not to deport Brotherhood figures.
Danger lurking in Germany
President of the Regional Department of the German domestic Security and Anti-Terrorist Organization, Gordian Meyer–Plath, described the Muslim Brotherhood as the greatest danger facing Germany.
He added on December 7 that the Muslim Brotherhood is especially active in the eastern German state of Saxony.
They tried to control the mosques in the state, Meyer–Plath said. They wanted to do this in order to gain presence among Muslims frequenting these mosques.
He noted that Muslim Brotherhood expansion would have dire consequences for religious freedoms, rights of women and democracy.
Meyer–Plath revealed that the Muslim Brotherhood is also active in the construction of mosques, schools and Islamic centers in other Germany states.
The group, he said, denounces terrorist attacks in order to gain the sympathy of ordinary Germans.
He said German security agencies keep Muslim Brotherhood under their close watch in all German states.
German Minister of the Interior, Karl Ernst Thomas de Maizière, believes that it is necessary for German security agencies to keep watching the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood very closely.
Great danger for France
The Muslim Brotherhood poses great dangers to France as well, according to the French news site, Atlantico.
It said in a report it published in June this year that the Muslim Brotherhood is even more dangerous than terrorists and radicals.
The report focused on the events organized by the Muslim Brotherhood in French mosques. These are events, it said, where politics and religion always mix.
Speaking in the events are always the figureheads of the Muslim Brotherhood, Atlantico said.
