The Semperopernball Opera Festival in Dresden was awarded the “St. George” Medal this year to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The festival’s organizing association said that a delegation of festival will hand over the Egyptian president the prize on Sunday in Cairo.
“The prize will be awarded to a statesman who “carries hope for the entire region” The festival’s organizing association added.
The association praised Sisi and described it as “building bridges between cultures and making peace in the North African region, which is experiencing severe crises.”
The association also added that Sisi supports and seeks dialogue between the various warring parties.
The head of the Zimper Opera House Hans-Joachim Frye commented to Radio Central Germany in Saxony about the award that would be awarded to Sisi: “We made a very important decision in the festival’s special assembly regarding future developments.”
On honor, he said that there is a desire to “build cultural bridges to create a moderate and moderate language between regions across culture.”
Fry explained that there are many motives for granting Sisi this honor.
Fry emphasized that the medal is not only related to the political aspect, because the donor is purely cultural. He added that the remark in the honor is that a large national museum will be opened in Cairo, which will embrace the Egyptian civilization, and the Egyptian capital will also witness the end of this year the opening of a new opera house.
It is worth noting that this prize was awarded to Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2009 and to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2017.
