A package of sovereign decisions stripping Qatar’s military claws from Sudan

In 2017, Doha took advantage of the Brotherhood’s relationship with the Omar al-Bashir regime, to penetrate the Sudanese army, and Qatar opened the military attaché in Khartoum, with the aim of expanding the outposts of the Al-Hamdeen organization, in Sudanese territory. This is the culmination of the “historical” relations between the two countries, which are witnessing continuous growth

This region witnessed widespread criticism from  Sudan, which accused “Al-Bashir” of loyalty to the Brotherhood, especially since, after it retreated from Sawakin Island, “in north-eastern Sudan”, to invest Turkish investments, and its activities do not pose a threat to neighboring countries headed by Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Recruiting youth for the Brotherhood project

It was only a few days after the opening of the Qatari military forum in Khartoum, and unless it was leaked, in October 2017, the opposition Qatar Direct account published a picture of a leaked document from the attaché to recruit Sudanese civilians to work in its armed forces.

The practices of Doha revealed afterwards the exploitation of the Qatari military attaché in Khartoum, in an attempt to penetrate the Sudanese army, through the axis of support of the Muslim Brotherhood, and hold secret meetings to coordinate with the Turkish side on Sudanese territory.

Media reports said at the time that these meetings open the door to many speculations and questions, and even concerns about its nature and goals, at this sensitive time, and the Qatari chief of staff’s response to these questions represented a confirmation of these fears, after confirming to the media, that “the meeting which he gathered with the Turkish “Khulusi Akar”, and the Sudanese “Imad Adawi”, were pure coincidence, and without prior arrangement.

Cleansing Sudan of Qatari brotherhood presence

Despite great attempts, from the “Qatari-Muslim Brotherhood” axis to dominate Sudan, by consolidating relations with the Bashir regime, the Sudanese revolution overthrew all these dreams and made Qatar resort to devious ways in order to achieve its goals.

Since the success of the Sudanese revolution in overthrowing the isolated regime, Omar al-Bashir, on April 11, 2020, calls to purify civil service institutions and the state from the Brotherhood have increased.
