The Movement of Peace Society, the most prominent political arm of the Brotherhood in Algeria, has close ties with the United States as one of the wings of the Algerian government that lives in a state of American consent, and therefore its positions are always characterized by pragmatism, and according to its interests it has never condemned the subject of Algerians to close inspection more than others among the nations of the world.
In American airports, and the insults that represent it in the entire airports of the United States of America, in order to ensure the ties that the strong man of Abdul-Razzaq Maqri has with the American Freedom House organization in Algeria, which had a great role in the success of the symposium He defied her about political reform in the Arab world, and put in her academic and non-academic names that would activate the symposium, a relationship that had badly damaged the image of the Peace Society movement and the Brotherhood’s orientation, and forced the movement’s officials to disavow what he had done.
This relationship to one of the most important men in the country’s largest Islamic political movement, with an organization the size of Freedom House, is a clear affirmation that the idea of the Brotherhood as a political alternative to regimes still exists in the United States, and is working to consolidate it.
The American-Algerian relations grew from July 2001, when President Abdelaziz Bouteflika became the first Algerian president to visit the White House since 1985, and this visit was followed by a second meeting in November 2001, and another in New York in December 2003, with the participation of Hamas members from the Algerian government.
Since the attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States, contacts have intensified on the main issues of mutual interest, including law enforcement and cooperation in fighting terrorism, and the Brotherhood is a party to it. The Brotherhood in Algeria has officially condemned terrorist attacks on the United States and has strongly supported the war on terror.
In August 2005, the then-President of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Richard Lugar, led a presidential delegation to Algeria and Morocco with the Brotherhood’s participation to oversee the release of the remaining 404 Moroccan prisoners held by the Polisario Front in Algeria, and the release of prisoners removed a bleak obstacle to bilateral relations Moroccan Algerian.
