In light of the exacerbation of the corona virus pandemic in Qatar, the regime has been unable to contain its impact, whether socially or economically, and the number of people infected has risen to more than 5,000, which is a large percentage in a country with a population of only three million people.
Saudi political analyst Khaled al-Zaatar believes that the economic system in Qatar has become unable to provide citizens’ minimum needs for basic commodities in light of the spread of the virus. He stressed that this is a natural matter for a state that has tampered with the people’s wealth in order to support terrorism and chaos while ignoring the issue of food security.
In a series of tweets, Zaatar reported that the number of corona infections in Qatar exceeds 5,000 due to the regime’s reluctance to stop flights from Iran, which is the focal point of the corona virus in the Middle East. He added that another issue is the deterioration of health services for migrant workers.
Zaatar explained that while Qatar pays out millions of dollars to international public relations firms in order to project its image and market itself, Doha remains unable to provide basic commodities such as food in its markets. “How can it aspire to host the World Cup and make itself a regional power when it cannot provide basic commodities?” he asked.
Iranians, Turks melt into Qatari society
The Qatari regime treats its people as second-class citizens and marginalizes their needs, Zaatar said, adding that Doha seeks to tamper with the country’s Arab demographic composition by melting Iranians and Turks within the Qatari society by opening the door to naturalization for them. Successive Qatari regimes have attached importance to the subject of naturalization in order to make Qatar’s Arab people a minority.
Zaatar added that the Doha regime has governed with mistrust towards the Qatari Arab people ever since former Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani deposed his father in a coup, working to marginalize the Qatari people and give them minor jobs, while the higher-level positions were reserved for Turks and Iranians granted citizenship.
Tampering with wealth
Moza bint Nasser Al Misned, wife of the former emir and mother of current Emir Tamim bin Hamad, is completely focused on trying to create an ideal image of the regime for Western media by means of public relations firms, Zaatar said.
The Qatari regime is currently looking for a plan to reduce its internal spending in order to meet the economic and medical needs of Iran and Turkey in the face of the corona virus, Zaatar pointed out, explaining that the state of collapse in the Turkish health system will reflect the economic situation In Qatar, especially in light of Turkey’s reliance on the Qatari treasury to fill the Turkish economy’s deficit.
Regarding the spread of the corona virus in Turkey, Zaatar explained that Ankara initially dealt with the virus with complacency, keeping quiet for fear of the impact on tourism, which led to the virus spreading out of control. In light of Turkey’s collapsed health system, the country will emerge with an exhausted economy, meaning Ankara will live with the effects of the corona pandemic for many years.
Zaatar stressed that corona will spark a new wave of revolutions in countries that have failed to contain the pandemic, such as Turkey and Iran. This failure will in turn lead to an escalation of domestic public anger in light of the deterioration of the health system.
Erdogan’s play to control
As far as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s requests that his people donate during the pandemic through the farce of giving up his own salary for seven months in an attempt to motivate citizens to donate, Zaatar explained that this is not appropriate for an advanced country trying to make a name for itself when it is unable to provide health services for its citizens.
Zaatar noted that when Erdogan was supporting terrorism in Syria and Libya and plotting against Egypt, the Turkish treasury was able to accommodate his foreign ambitions, yet Ankara faces the corona pandemic by asking for donations from citizens. Zaatar also pointed out that Turkey does not pay at all to support the chaos in Libya while transferring terrorists from Syria to Libya, as the regime in Doha has placed the Qatari treasury and the wealth of the Qatari people at the disposal of Turkey’s plan in Libya.
AKP virus
Erdogan’s handling of the corona pandemic by requesting donations confirms the depth of the economic crisis in Turkey, Zaatar said, adding that the corona virus requires Turkey to search for a radical cure to the Justice and Development Party (AKP) virus that has brought political and economic crises into a country that collects donations to face the pandemic.
Zaatar stressed that the health system in Turkey is collapsing at an accelerated pace despite Erdogan’s attempts to resolve the matter, but the escalating number of daily infections and deaths reveals the state of collapse in the country’s healthcare system, which has become unable to absorb the huge amount of infected patients.
Cohesion
Arab countries, on the other hand, have proven their ability to deal with and manage crises in accordance with a discreet, civilized and humanistic discourse that attempts to cultivate hope and reassurance, Zaatar noted, adding that the Western discourse, meanwhile, has been desperately inhumane and spreads frustration and fear. Crises are the true test of the progress of states, he said.
