Iran’s mullahs are relentlessly glorifying the former commander of Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in an American air raid in January 2020 as his motorcade got out of Baghdad International Airport.
On May 18, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani launched the Qasem Soleimani International Award. The award covers a number of fields and its jury contains the commanders of the Iran-backed militias across the Arab region.
Soleimani Award
According to the official Iranian news agency, the award is given every two years to prominent figures in the fields of culture, arts, politics, education, media, and sports.
A policies committee, containing 19 members, supervises the award. The committee members are representatives of militias allied to Iran, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip and the Mouthi militia in Yemen, the news agency said.
Committee
The general committee of the award combines a number of Iranian political figures, including the foreign minister, the minister of youth and sports, and the head of the Cultural Committee in the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council.
Objectives
The award aims to promote and protect human and Islamic values, including the value of resistance against international arrogance, according to the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council.
Soleimani takes center stage in the award, especially in its branch on resistance and struggle.
Closely linked
The fact that the award specifies a branch for resistance and struggle shows that it aims to encourage the Iran-allied militias in the region to fight even more on behalf of the Islamic Republic.
This also aims to motivate these militias into promoting the Shiite ideology, even more in the coming period by spreading the principles of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
