Kuwait recorded 692 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total in the Gulf country to 23,267.
The announcement, made by the Ministry of Health, also reported three new deaths, raising the death toll to 175.
Of the country’s 23,267 total cases, 15,146 are active, said the ministry.
Cases rise despite curfew
On Monday, Kuwaiti authorities announced that they would not be extending the country’s 24-hour curfew beyond its deadline on May 30.
Instead, a partial curfew will be introduced as part of a plan to gradually return to normalcy.
Kuwait had imposed a 24-hour curfew on May 10 aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
However, cases have continued to climb throughout the period that the curfew was imposed.
