UAE’s aid to Iraq and Ghana amid Corona epidemic

UAE was among the first nations to deliver medical aid to Iraq.

Since the crisis of Covid-19 erupted and the epidemic has become widespread around the world, the Emirates’ humanitarian giving and contributions to the vulnerable and afflicted throughout the universe have not stopped.

UAE provided more than 57 countries around the world, aid that exceeded 658 tons of various medical supplies, with the aim of supporting and strengthening the efforts of about 658,000 health care workers to tackle the Corona epidemic.

This aid is an extension of the belief of the United Arab Emirates and its rational leadership in the importance of human giving in drawing smiles on the faces of the peoples of the world, and establishing the fountains of humanity in light of crises, as it was keen to provide a helping hand and send aid to various peoples of the world without regard to intellectual or political differences, or pay attention To race, color, or sectarian and religious differences.

In this context, the UAE sent, on Thursday, May 28, 2020, an aid plane containing 6 tons of medical supplies to Iraqi Kurdistan, to support it in limiting the spread of the new Corona virus, which will benefit more than 6 thousand health care workers to enhance their efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

The Emirati news agency, WAM, reported that Ahmed Al Dhaheri, consul general of the UAE to Iraqi Kurdistan, confirmed the UAE’s keenness to extend a helping hand to Iraqi Kurdistan to help it tackle the new Corona virus.

He pointed out that the fraternal relationship between the UAE and Iraq forms the basis of this cooperation, which will enable us to support workers on the front lines in Iraq in combating this epidemic, adding that the UAE stands beside Iraq in its relentless pursuit to preserve public health under difficult conditions The country is going through.

In the same context, the Executive Director of the World Food Program, David Paisley, thanked the UAE for providing equipment that will be used to establish a field hospital in Ghana, which will be used to provide medical care to aid workers in West Africa.

In a tweet on his Twitter account, David Paisley posted a video clip in front of the plane carrying aid, saying: “Right from Accra  … I am here in front of (C17) provided by the United Arab Emirates, I just landed carrying parts of a field hospital We are creating it to provide medical care to aid workers in West Africa. ”

He thanked the UAE and all donors, explaining that he had contacted the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, to request assistance, adding: «This plane is a result of the kindness and generosity of the UAE .. As soon as I requested help from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed He agreed to present it immediately without even blinking his eyelid.

The UAE has launched an international air bridge to provide the health and humanitarian supplies line, as part of a major contribution to the United Nations global humanitarian response plan to combat the emerging Corona pandemic.
