Day after day, the UAE is proving to be a country of giving, and this has been evident during the global corona virus pandemic, as it continues to send medical aid to countries around the world within the framework of strengthening the capabilities of the health sector to overcome this pandemic. The Emirati approach is based on the principle of consolidating global solidarity.
The latest aid shipment was sent to Columbia on June 15, as the UAE sent a plane carrying 8 tons of medical supplies to help the country curb the spread of the virus.
According to the Emirati News Agency (WAM), UAE Ambassador to Colombia Salem Al Owais indicated that his country is keen to develop its relations with countries around the world as part of its policy of cooperation and solidarity. Despite the distance between the two countries, bilateral relations between them have witnessed remarkable development. The sending of medical aid to Colombia confirms the strength of these relations, indicating that the UAE hopes that this medical aid will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the medical and nursing staff in the country and provide them with more protection.
Earlier, on April 8, the UAE had sent a plane carrying 10 tons of medical supplies to Colombia, along with 63 Colombians evacuated from the UAE.
On June 15, the UAE dispatched a plane containing 7 tons of medical supplies to the Dominican Republic in order to provide personal protective gear for its medical workers to combat the corona pandemic.
The UAE’s non-resident ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Badr Almatrooshi, announced that this comes from the UAE’s pioneering and humanitarian role in providing aid in times of crisis and harnessing the capabilities to assist countries, while it continues to strengthen relations with the Dominican Republic.
The UAE also sent a plane to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, carrying 12.4 tons of medical supplies and examination devices to support efforts to counter corona.
UAE Ambassador to Jordan Ahmed Al-Balushi pointed out that what unites the UAE and Jordan is a solid fraternal relationship in all political, economic and social fields, which is a model of distinguished Arab relations characterized by stability, depth and synergy in various situations.
Thus, the total amount of aid sent by the UAE until June 15 has reached more than 923 tons of aid, helping 65 African, Asian and European countries and benefitting about 923,000 health workers.
