Iran is in for a major international crisis in the coming period, against the background of its failure to notify the Secretary-General of the United Nations that the missiles that were fired on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and Abha International Airport in 2019 were made in Iran.
Trading accusations
The Iranian delegation at the United Nations accused the international body of making politically-motivated charges against Iran.
The charges are imprecise and contradictory, the delegation said.
The delegation also said that the United Nations did not have the necessary capability to conduct an inquiry into the attacks.
Meanwhile, Iran’s permanent representative at the United Nations accused the United States of standing behind these charges.
The United States dictates to the United Nations what it should say, the Iranian diplomat wrote on Twitter.
Nevertheless, the Iran-backed Houthi militia claimed responsibility for the attacks. This claim of responsibility came after repeated Iranian confessions that Iran supports the Houthi militia with arms.
This is why some people view the denials of the Iranian representative at the United Nations as incomprehensible and a mere attempt to deflect attention from the truths.
Attack
Rockets were fired by drones on oil facilities operated by Saudi Arabia’s oil giant Aramco in September 2019.
The weapons used in carrying out the attack were Iranian, according to spokesman of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition in Yemen, Turki al-Maliki.
He said the drones took off from Yemen, noting that the drones were made in Iran.
